Adventure Pack Pricing & How It Works

Active Paws Adventure Pack walks are designed to provide dogs with structured outdoor exercise, social interaction, and enriching exploration in a safe group environment. Unlike traditional dog walking services, our Adventure Pack program focuses on creating balanced pack groups where dogs can move naturally together while being carefully supervised. To ensure the best experience for every dog, we follow a short onboarding process before dogs join regular pack walks. This process allows us to evaluate temperament, determine the most appropriate pack placement, and introduce dogs to our walking structure and expectations. Taking the time to match dogs thoughtfully helps create calm, well-balanced packs where every dog can confidently enjoy their adventures. Below you’ll find a step-by-step overview of how dogs join the Adventure Pack and the membership options available once your dog is ready to begin regular walks.

Our Process

01

Submit Your Application

Start by completing our application form so we can learn more about your dog and determine if they are a good fit for the Active Paws pack.

We’ll ask about your dog’s personality, energy level, social experience with other dogs, and any current training needs. This helps ensure every dog is placed in the right group for a safe and balanced pack experience.

Once your application is reviewed, we’ll guide you through the next step of the process.

02

(Approx. 30 minutes)

Once your application has been reviewed, we schedule a private in-home Meet & Greet consultation. This visit allows us to get to know your dog in their familiar environment and ensure they are a good fit for the Adventure Pack.

During this 30-minute consultation, we observe your dog’s temperament, review their routine and exercise needs, confirm proper equipment such as harness requirements, and walk through how the pack program operates. This step helps us build safe, balanced groups of dogs and ensures every pack member is set up for success.

The Meet & Greet also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and learn what to expect as your dog moves forward in the Active Paws onboarding process.

The $25 consultation helps cover travel time and allows us to dedicate focused one-on-one time to properly prepare both you and your dog for the Active Paws experience.

Pack Prep Program

Before joining regular Adventure Pack walks, all new dogs complete an introduction process to help them transition safely into a structured pack environment.

Group pack walks require dogs to move calmly together, follow group flow, and remain focused on the handler while around other dogs. Our Pack Prep programs help build these skills while allowing us to evaluate how your dog responds in a group setting.

During this process we focus on:

✔ learning pack walking structure
✔ leash manners and group movement
✔ recall foundation and handler focus
✔ calm behavior around other dogs
✔ understanding pack boundaries and expectations

This step ensures every dog entering the Adventure Pack is set up for a safe, balanced, and enjoyable experience.

Pack Foundations Program — $165

(2 private training walks, 1 assessment walk)

Designed for dogs new to pack walking, this program introduces the structure, movement, and expectations of walking within a balanced group environment.

Pack Integration Assessment — $125

(1 private training walk, 1 assessment walk)

For dogs with previous pack walking experience, this assessment allows us to evaluate how your dog integrates into the Active Paws pack structure.

30-Day Pack Review

Once your dog begins regular pack walks, we continue observing their behavior during the first month to ensure they are thriving within the group environment.

04

At the end of the Pack Prep Program, we complete a Pack Evaluation during your dog’s final preparation walk. This evaluation is part of the Pack Prep process and does not require an additional visit.

During this stage, we observe how your dog responds within a structured pack environment and how they interact with other dogs while following pack movement and handler direction.

During the evaluation we look at:

✔ comfort and confidence around other dogs
✔ ability to walk calmly within a group
✔ responsiveness to handler direction
✔ recall and attention skills
✔ overall confidence and temperament in pack settings

This final step allows us to confirm that your dog is ready to safely join regular Adventure Pack walks, helping ensure every pack member contributes to a balanced and enjoyable group experience.

Pack Recommendation

At the conclusion of your dog’s Pack Prep program, we carefully review their progress to determine whether they are ready to join an Active Paws Adventure Pack.

Our goal is to ensure every dog is placed in the right pack environment, where they will feel confident, safe, and able to enjoy the adventure.

During this review we assess:

Recommended energy group — Slow, Medium, or High Energy Adventure Pack
Pack compatibility with other dogs in the group
Trail difficulty and activity level best suited for your dog
Overall readiness for structured pack walking

Every dog progresses at their own pace. This step allows us to ensure that your dog enters a pack where they can thrive socially, mentally, and physically.

If your dog is approved, you will receive your official pack recommendation, along with guidance to the final step of selecting your membership commitment and securing your place in the Adventure Pack.

Your Dog’s Adventure Pack Level

Every dog has a different energy level, play style, and adventure tolerance.
To ensure the best experience for both your dog and the pack, Active Paws organizes Adventure Packs based on energy and activity level.

Once your dog completes Pack Prep and receives their recommendation, they will be placed into one of the following groups:

Slow Energy Adventure Pack

Designed for dogs who prefer a gentler pace and relaxed exploration.
These adventures focus on calm movement, confidence building, and allowing dogs to enjoy the environment without pressure to keep up with higher energy groups.

This pack is ideal for:

• Older dogs or seniors
• Dogs building confidence in outdoor environments
• Dogs who prefer a slower walking pace
• Dogs who enjoy sniffing and exploring at their own rhythm

Adventures focus on shorter trails, calm group dynamics, and relaxed exploration.

High Energy Adventure Pack

Built for dogs who thrive on movement, adventure, and endurance.

These packs are designed for dogs who require higher levels of physical and mental stimulation and enjoy longer trail hikes with an active pace.

This pack is ideal for:

• Young or high-drive dogs
• Working or athletic breeds
• Dogs who require higher levels of exercise
• Dogs who love longer outdoor adventures

Adventures focus on longer trails, active movement, and structured pack engagement.

Medium Energy Adventure Pack

Perfect for dogs who enjoy steady activity and social pack interaction without the intensity of a high endurance hike.

These adventures provide a balanced mix of movement, exploration, and pack engagement.

This pack is ideal for:

• Dogs with moderate energy levels
• Dogs who enjoy social interaction with other dogs
• Dogs comfortable on trails but not requiring long-distance hikes
• Dogs who benefit from consistent mental and physical stimulation

Adventures typically include moderate trail distances and structured pack movement.

Weekend Warrior Adventure

For dogs who love a little extra adventure, the Weekend Warrior is a special extended outing offered on select Saturdays throughout the year.

These adventures give dogs the opportunity to enjoy longer outdoor exploration in a small, well-matched group, with trails and locations chosen based on the energy level of the participating dogs.

Weekend Warrior outings may include:

• Longer trail adventures
• New hiking locations
• Extended outdoor exploration
• Small, carefully matched adventure groups

Because these adventures require the right group balance, Weekend Warrior spots are offered only to dogs whose energy level and pack compatibility are suited for that particular outing.

This program is available to approved Adventure Pack members and is offered as an optional add-on experience when appropriate packs are scheduled.

Additional Training Path

Not every dog is immediately ready for a structured pack environment.

After initial onboarding, some dogs may benefit from additional training to build the foundation required for calm, controlled group movement.

This is not a setback — it’s part of creating long-term success.

Training at Active Paws focuses on developing dogs that are calm, responsive, and able to move confidently within a structured system.

Based on your dog’s behavior and progression, a training pathway will be recommended.
