Active Paws Intake Application

Active Paws Intake Application

Thank you for your interest in joining Active Paws.

Our programs are designed around structure, safety, calm leadership, and carefully matched experiences — whether your dog is joining our Adventure Pack walks or participating in training and behavioral development services.

This intake form helps us determine:
• pack compatibility
• temperament suitability
• energy-level placement
• training and behavioral needs
• social readiness
• preparation recommendations
• overall safety for both dogs and handlers

Because our programs are intentionally structured — not chaotic or unmanaged environments — not every dog will be the right fit for every group setting at every stage of development.

Some dogs may thrive immediately within our Adventure Pack program, while others may benefit from private training, Pack Prep, behavioral guidance, or a more gradual introduction to structured social environments.

Please answer all questions honestly and thoroughly so we can create the safest, most successful, and most supportive experience possible for your dog.

Estimated Completion Time:

Step 2: Book Your Meet & Greet

Once you have completed your Active Paws Intake Application, the next step is to book your Meet & Greet.

The Meet & Greet gives us the opportunity to meet you and your dog in person, learn more about their individual personality and needs, and discuss the most appropriate path forward.

Whether you are interested in Adventure Pack walks, Pack Prep, private training, or behavioural support, this visit helps us better understand your goals and how Active Paws may be able to support you and your dog.

What Is the Meet & Greet?

The Meet & Greet is an in-person visit designed to help us get to know your dog beyond the information provided in the intake application.

During the visit, we will:

• meet you and your dog
• discuss your dog’s personality, routines, history, and individual needs
• review your goals and any training or behavioural concerns
• observe your dog’s general comfort, communication, and behaviour
• explain how the most relevant Active Paws programs and services work
• answer any questions you may have
• discuss home access, keys, or entry instructions when applicable
• review recommended next steps

Depending on your dog’s needs and the services you are interested in, the visit may also include a brief walk or simple handling observations.

Preparing for Your Visit

To help the Meet & Greet run smoothly, please:

• ensure your dog is home and available during the visit
• allow your dog to behave as naturally as possible
• have your dog’s regular walking equipment available
• prepare any questions or concerns you would like to discuss
• ensure an adult responsible for the dog is present

There is no need to rehearse behaviours or prepare a formal training demonstration. We want to meet your dog as they are and gain an accurate understanding of their everyday needs.

What Happens Next?

Following the Meet & Greet, we will recommend the most appropriate next step based on your dog’s individual needs, readiness, and goals.

This may include:

• moving forward with Pack Prep
• beginning private training
• receiving additional preparation or behavioural recommendations
• planning a gradual introduction toward structured group experiences
• another recommended pathway based on your dog’s individual needs

For dogs working toward the Adventure Pack, Pack Prep provides individual preparation designed to build familiarity, confidence, and readiness before entering a group environment.

Important to Know

The Meet & Greet is part of the Active Paws assessment and onboarding process and does not guarantee placement within the Adventure Pack program.

Every dog is evaluated as an individual. Some dogs may be ready to move forward quickly, while others may benefit from additional preparation, training, or a more gradual pathway.

Our priority is always to recommend the safest and most appropriate experience for each dog while maintaining thoughtfully matched, well-managed group environments.
