Remembrance Day

Lest We Forget

On Remembrance Day, Canadians pause to honour the brave men and women who served our country and sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.

It is a day of gratitude, reflection, and remembrance—a time to recognize the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who answered the call to serve.

But today, we also remember the silent heroes who stood beside them.

🐾 Honouring the Animals Who Served

Throughout history, countless animals have served alongside military personnel, often in dangerous and challenging conditions.

We remember:

🐕 Military working dogs who detected explosives, carried messages, tracked missing soldiers, and protected their handlers.

🐴 Horses and mules who transported troops, medical supplies, artillery, and food across difficult terrain.

🐦 Carrier pigeons who delivered life-saving messages when other communication failed.

🐪 Camels, donkeys, and countless other animals who faithfully served wherever they were needed.

These remarkable animals did not choose war, yet they served with unwavering loyalty, courage, and devotion.

Many never returned home.

🌺 A Moment of Reflection

Today, take a moment to pause.

Attend a local Remembrance Day ceremony.

Wear your poppy with pride.

Observe the two minutes of silence at 11:00 a.m.

Share stories of those who served and help ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.

🌲 An Active Paws Reflection

At Active Paws Adventures, we celebrate the incredible bond between people and dogs every day.

Remembrance Day reminds us that this partnership has existed for generations—not only on hiking trails and neighbourhood walks, but also during some of history's most difficult moments.

The loyalty, bravery, and companionship of military animals have saved countless lives and provided comfort when it was needed most.

Today, we honour all who served.

The soldiers.

The medics.

The support personnel.

And the animals who stood faithfully beside them.

❤️ Lest We Forget

May we always remember the courage of those who served, the sacrifices made for our freedom, and the faithful animals whose loyalty knew no bounds.

Lest We Forget. 🌺🐾
